During the month of June 2018, the gas station’s snack tried out an operation to fight food waste.

How does it work ? At the closing of the snack, all of the unsold cooked meals are packed, time stamped, and arranged in the refrigerated display case to be offered for sale at half price. This sale never lasts more than two hours : a winning transaction for everyone.

Indeed, these ready-made meals are a special addition to the snack menu : a healthy alternative to a sandwiches eaten on the run : « Every morning, our cook prepares takeaways based on local products and vegetables, they are sold in generous portions to less than ten euros. The difference with sandwiches made to order is that we are sometimes obliged throw unsold food at closing time. » explains Davy BERNARD, manager of the gas station.

Along with his team, Mr BERNARD decided to take action by creating this previously unseen device.
« We’ve tested it before the holidays and are fully satisfied with the results. We were able to notice that the customers who arrived after the closing were seduced by the possibility to leave with a cooked dish at a lower cost.»

The numbers speak for themselves, the snack was able to reduce its losses by 90% for the month of June. The operation will resume on 10th September along with the return of cooked dishes.
